The most beloved, intriguing, maddening, loving, provoking and satisfying things are composed of an enormous amount of detail; it's complicated. When several things merge, the curve goes to infinite pretty quickly.
Two subjects we spend a great deal of time either thinking about or avoid thinking about, are religion and politics. That is all you will find on this site, unless you study the details. The details, the complexity and the interactions are what will brighten your understanding and lead you to new ones.
As I go through the minutiae of the written Word, things will occur to me that I've never thought of before. Here's an example:
Did you realize that just before and during his crucifixion, Jesus smelled wonderfully? He just exuded the aroma of a finely prepared man, complete with very expensive cologne. His hair was oiled, as was done by those who could afford it, and he walked with a scent of importance, the wafting aroma of perhaps myrrh following him wherever he went. Not only was watching the occurrence of his worldly fate a sensory perception, his actual physical presence was visceral.
Why Would I SAY that?
As Andy said to Redd in Shawshank Redemption, "You'll have to pry it up - to see."
...and that is what I am going to ask you to do here - pry it up, look underneath, leave no stone un-turned to search for the details and the truth. In the days of Bloggers (like me) anything can be said without a shred of support. Opining has not been so ascendant since the newspaper editors of the 30's and 40's hijacked the public discourse in favor of whatever mogul happened to own the thing; Hearst, Getty, whomever. Their truth? It hasn't changed today: politics.
Fact checking has become so political that there are several versions of truth, most depending upon what type of government you prefer. Sorry, but a stupider foundation for faithful belief and scientific understanding I cannot imagine, so we'll avoid that, here. If opinions of writer and readers brush up against characteristic belief, faith, perspective or understanding, we'll have to chalk that up to culture and admit that this is fine.
Who am I? No one special. I have a technical education, have traveled over most of the Northern Hemisphere, and have progeny. Maternal and paternal roots in the New World both began in the 1680's; one up north, one down South. It is said in the family that even before The Divorce in the 1970's, the family was exchanging gunfire, and at Gettysburg, what they say is true!
Please follow us through the Bible and sometimes through politics. Often, we hope you are asking yourself:
Why Would He SAY that!?
You are welcome to keep coming back here to see new content. I will update it as often as I find things worthy of reflection or that make a good point, Today. I don't offer subscriptions or an argument section. If you'd like to comment, comment to me directly at Director@whywouldhesaythat.com. I'll share really good ones on the site. I get to pick.
